Above ground, a stand of Aspen trees appears to be made of individual trees. Underneath the dirt, you’ll learn otherwise. Aspen trees share an intricate root system, meaning each stand you see is actually one large organism. Each tree is one of its stems. One specific stand of Aspens in Utah, named “Pando,” is considered the world’s largest tree.
