Inspired - What the Treasure Table Holds

I am often asked what inspires me - what do I like to paint? Well the answer could vary from one day to the next. So often the inspiration is fleeting and I am chasing the blossom, switching gears to capture the excitement while it is present. I have been working steadily on some other projects, a good artist staying on task. And THEN a good friend walked into my studio with large stalks of white blooming quince from her yard. White angular stalks with beautiful buds - very inspiring. They speak to the loose forms of a floral still life. They conjure up images of old fashioned Southern gardens even though we still have winter skies. Placed on the treasure table, these buds draw me to shift the easel to the opposite side of my studio to capture the essence while they pose.
